RADAR has always been a festival where people express themselves.
Walk through the gates and you’ll see battle jackets, handmade jewellery, incredible makeup, custom trainers, patched-up denim, colourful hair, painted nails and outfits that could only belong at RADAR.
This competition celebrates all of it.
What we’re looking for
This isn’t a fashion competition.
We’re not looking for expensive clothes, professional makeup artists or perfectly curated wardrobes.
We’re looking for creativity.
Whether that’s a jacket you’ve customised yourself, an incredible makeup look, DIY jewellery, a hairstyle, painted boots, hand-sewn clothing, nail art, or an outfit built entirely from second-hand finds, we want to see the ideas that make you feel like you belong at RADAR.
The strongest entries usually have one clear idea and execute it well.
Sometimes the simplest concepts are the most memorable.
You don’t need a finished outfit
One thing we’d really love to see is your creative process.
Mood boards.
Sketches.
Videos.
Hair tests.
Trying out makeup ideas.
Painting patches.
Customising clothing.
Sewing projects.
Show us how you got there, not just where you ended up.
Slow fashion matters
You’ll notice one of the prizes is a £100 Beyond Retro voucher.
That’s deliberate.
We love creativity, but we also love giving clothing a second life.
Some of the best festival outfits are built from charity shops, vintage finds, second-hand clothing and pieces you’ve owned for years but reinvented.
Creating something amazing doesn’t have to mean buying something new.
Judging
Entries will be judged by Janine Shilstone of VUKOVI.
We’ll be looking for:
Creativity Did you have an interesting idea?
Personality Does it feel like you?
RADAR Spirit Could we imagine seeing this walking around the festival?
Presentation How well does everything work together?
Originality Did you surprise us?
